A Writing Community That Actually Publishes Books

Recently, when I’ve found my mind wandering during a Prickle, I go to the Quill and Cup website instead of scrolling on Instagram or Facebook. About a month ago, my mouse hovered over the Hedgie Books page of our website, and what I found left me in a state of delight and deep pride. The page had grown so much since it had first been published; I just kept scrolling, and there were more and more. I went back up to the top of the page and counted them all. Forty-two books were listed on our Hedgie Books page. Forty-two!!

I immediately went into our Hedgie Hype channel on Slack to celebrate all of us; every single Hedgie in Quill and Cup. The ones whose books were there and the ones whose books would eventually grace that very page, because they were all part of it, too. Every Prickle, every PUP (Pop Up Prickle), every Educational Prickle helped to build the amazing accomplishment that was now in front of me. Over forty books published by Quill and Cup members.

In a little less than five years, we now have a list of over forty books published. It is truly remarkable, and such a beautiful thing to be a part of. Crossing that finish line on your own is incredible, but doing it with a supportive community behind you…believe it or not, it is even better. Every win is shared, and every accomplishment – big or small – tastes even sweeter when there are people behind you who really get it. The highs, the lows, the struggles, the joy, and everything in between.

I’m so glad I took a chance nearly five years ago to join Quill and Cup when it was first starting out. Look at everything we’ve achieved together since. I can’t wait to see what Hedgie books will be added, because I know there is so much more to come.
