Finally know how to revise your novel—start to finish.
You know your story has potential—but editing it feels overwhelming, unclear, or never-ending.
The Self-Editing Academy gives you a clear, structured path to move from messy draft to confident manuscript—without second-guessing every step.
You’ll be supported by a community that gets it—and walk away with a process you can return to, again and again.
Get Early AccessThe Quill & Cup Self-Editing Academy is perfect for you if...
- you have a draft (or half a draft) and no clear plan to revise it
- you keep second-guessing what’s “working” and what’s not
- you’ve Googled “how to edit a novel” way too many times
- you want feedback—but don’t know who to trust or how to use it
- you’re ready to finish your book, but need to be told what's next.
If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
The Academy is not for you if…
- you’re looking for quick AI fixes or a bullet-point list to check off
- you don’t actually want to engage with your own work
- you’re not open to growth, feedback, or reflection
How the Self-Editing Academy Works
There’s no “right” way to move through revisions.
Just the way that works for your life, your story, and your season.
You don’t need another editing checklist.
You need a process you can actually follow.
A clear path—from messy draft to confident manuscript
The Self-Editing Academy is designed as a 3-level journey, so you always know what to focus on next—and you’re never doing it alone.
Each level has its own cohort space, meaning you’re editing alongside writers who are in the same stage as you.
No comparison. No overwhelm. Just aligned progress.
The difference is how much flexibility and support you want along the way.
(Note: Quill & Cup membership is a separate offering and not included in this program.)
Level 1
Set Yourself Up for Success
Modules 1–3
Before you start “fixing” anything, we take a bird's eye view of the process. We need to make sure your mind is set for the obstacles that will undoubtedly meet you along the way (timeline inconsistencies, plot holes, current event unease, etc.).
This level is about:
- building a grounded, sustainable editing mindset
- understanding what you’re actually working with
- and reading your manuscript as a reader first
👉 No editing yet. (Yes, really.)
The fastest way to get stuck is to start changing things before you understand the whole.
Level 2
Strengthen the Story
Modules 4-6
Now we get into the heart of your novel.
You’ll work through:
- character development + consistency
- setting that supports your story
- plot, pacing, and timeline clarity
This is where your story starts to click into place.
You’ll also prepare for your first round of beta readers (!!)—and learn exactly how to:
- find them
- guide them
- and use their feedback without spiraling
(No more Googling “what do I do next?” at 11pm.)
Level 3
Polish with Confidence
Modules 7-10
This is where your manuscript becomes something you’re proud to share.
You’ll refine:
- clarity
- flow
- emotional impact
- and overall readability
With the support of your cohort, you’ll move through a second round of feedback and learn how to elevate your work without losing your voice.
Ania here. This is my favorite part of the process—because drafts 2 and 3 are the hardest. But once you reach this stage, your book starts to read like an actual book you’re proud of. And there’s nothing better than that feeling after all the work you’ve put in.
You’ve already done the hard part—writing the book.
Now it’s time to learn how to shape it.
TAP FOR THE CURRICULUM: 10 MODULES (~9 MONTHS)
Guided Cohort Path
$997
Move through all 3 levels with your cohort over 9 months.
Structure, prompts, and support keep you going - and it's up to you to stay on track.
This is for you if you’re ready to commit to your revisions and want a clear path forward—without overcomplicating it.
-
9-month self-editing curriculum
-
Weekly prompts + structured accountability
-
Supportive cohort experience
-
Lifetime access to all materials
Flexible Path
$1397
Move at your own pace and stay in each level as long as you need.
Sometimes your story (or your life) needs more time. If you find yourself needing longer in an early stage—like reading through a 100k manuscript instead of a 40k novella—you’ll have the option to continue within a cohort that's still in the early stages. This way, you can keep moving without feeling behind.
This is for you if you want the safety of knowing you can take your time and still be fully supported.
- Everything in Guided Cohort
- Option to move into a more aligned cohort if your timeline shifts
- Best for longer manuscripts or unpredictable seasons
- Lifetime access to all materials
Not sure which path is right for you?
If you want....
- structure + momentum, choose the Guided Cohort Path.
- flexibility + breathing room, choose the Flex Path.
What Writers Are Saying About Quill & Cup
GINA R BRIGGS, MEMBER SINCE 2024
I view my writing as an investment in myself AND in my motherhood.
"I'm showing my daughter that mommy's dreams are worthy, paving the way for her to follow hers in the future. Since joining Q&C, I've self published two books, attended several book signings, and released a self-narrated audiobook."
ALICE SHEFFIELD, MEMBER SINCE 2021
I believe in my story and myself.
"I know [editing actual words I've written] wouldn't be possible without Q&C! How do I know? Because I've tried writing so many times before Q&C and lasted only a few days and quit. The longer I'm in Q&C, and the more I share my story, the more I believe in it and myself. There is no way I could believe in my story this much without the support of this group. The routine it's given me and the knowledge of craft has been incredible."
KRISTIN BROWN, MEMBER SINCE 2024
With their constant, daily support I feel like I really can make it happen.
"Women from around the world gather on Zoom calls every day, at various times, to write together, motivate each other, hold each other accountable for our goals, as well as talk about our daily lives. We share our stories with each other, brainstorm, critique, and encourage each other. We have educational resources and opportunities, virtual and in-person retreats, and a safe space to be our most authentic and vulnerable selves. All levels of writers come together, from a new writer on her first draft of a small essay, all the way to seasoned, published authors. I'm so thankful and blessed to call them my sisters. Without their support, I never would've had the courage to continue my writing journey. I'm far from finished with the first novel (though the next two are somewhat done), but with their constant, daily support I feel like I really can make it happen."
NICOLE JORGE, MEMBER SINCE 2022
I'm in awe of this writing community.
"I talk to my daughter about [Quill & Cup]--how we are encouraged to show up for what we're passionate about, how learning is always palpable, how friendships are formed and dreams are born. I'm in awe of this writing community. My writing community... A place I can't believe I belong to because I didn't know it could exist. I couldn't fathom a group of women so fiercely supportive of each other that competition was simply non-existant. ...Quill & Cup has changed my life."
A girl with questions? I'd expect nothing less of a future Hedgie! Here are some FAQs:
I'm really busy. Is this program right for me? What if I fall behind?
What if I join and realize it’s not the right fit for me?
Will this program help me if I want to traditionally publish or self-publish?
I can't afford this right now. What are some financial options?
I'm already a member of Quill & Cup. Should I sign up for the Academy? How is it different?
WE'RE HERE TO MAKE SURE YOU WON'T NEED ANOTHER COURSE ON SELF-EDITING EVER AGAIN.
What kind of transformation can you expect?
By the end of the Self-Editing Academy, you will have more than a polished manuscript. You'll have a clear understanding of how to revise your work, within the same framework and process, book after book after book.
You’ll move from:
- second-guessing every change → knowing what your story needs
- bouncing between advice → following a clear, structured process
- feeling overwhelmed → moving through revisions with clarity + focus
- avoiding feedback → using it confidently and without spiraling
And maybe most importantly…
You’ll trust yourself as a writer.
